BEHS Choir Auditions
Auditions for choral groups for the 2016-17 school year will take place in TBA. The audition is short and private! It will consist of four brief parts:
· a prepared song,
· scales to check range and register changes
· pitch memory
· sight-reading,
For the prepared song, you may sing your own voice part of any song that you have learned in a choir class, or you may prepare a solo. If you are not in a choir class, use a hymn or choral song of your choice. Altos, Tenors, and Basses should be prepared to sing their own part. It is not necessary to memorize the song, but it is important that you be able to sing your part accurately. Students will audition one at a time so that no one has an advantage on the sight-reading or tonal memory portion of the tryout.
Members of Concert Choir will primarily be seniors and juniors. Concert Choir members should have prior music training, and should have a solid sense of tonality and rhythm. All of the auditioned choral performing groups need members who are willing to work within an ensemble--who enjoy performing, or would like to learn to perform. Concert Choir members need to be able to miss a (very) few days of school for the Foundation Concert rehearsals, Choir Exchanges, or Young Americans. They will also participate in Region and State events, plus a possible choir trip.
The Arioso class is designed for sophomore, junior and senior girls who are independent part-singers, and enjoy performing. Like Concert Choir, they should have a strong sense of tonality (be able to sing a song without accompaniment, and stay in tune) and rhythm. In addition, Arioso will do some choreographed numbers. They will also participate in Region and State events.
If you cannot audition during any of the posted times, please email Mr. Wood at:
